    The course will provide a historical basis for the foundation of U.S. patent law in the U.S. constitution. The course will cover the statutory definitions of an invention and distinguish between an inventor on a patent and an author on a publication.  In addition, the course will cover the classes of patentable inventions and the requirements for obtaining a patent on an invention. The course will provide a case study of an invention from filing the patent application to prosecution of the patent application resulting in an issued patent.

Jennings (EJ) Taylor is the Founder and Chief Technical Officer of Faraday Technology, Inc., an electrochemical research, development and engineering firm. His vision for Faraday was to develop and commercialize innovative electrochemical technologies based on pulse/pulse reverse electrolytic principles. He received a B.A. in Chemistry from Wittenberg University in 1976 and M.S. and Ph.D. degree
