This symposium series is aimed at providing an international forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest developments on electrochemical synthesis of fuels and related topics. The emphasis of this symposium is on recent research results and development relevant to the conversion and utilization of water and/or carbon dioxide for synthesis of fuels and other chemicals. The application of the same cells as fuel cells is also of interest, because the overall efficiency of reversible cells can be increased through energy storage by being coupled with renewable or nuclear electric power production.
