Some of the important research and technology issues addressed in this issue of ECS Transactions include electrode materials, cell chemistry, safety, and applications. The principles and technological developments of cathode materials, anode materials have been treated in all forms: amorphous crystalline, films, fibres, etc. Application of alternative electrodes for rechargeable batteries is extensively discussed.
