This issue of ECS Transactions comes from a highly successful Workshop held in Jülich, Germany on April 23-25, 2012. Many of the active groups in the field were represented and forty papers covered the range of KEMS measurements being taken today. The papers included in this issue of ECS Transactions range from the coupling of KEMS measurements to quantum chemistry calculations, novel uses of KEMS for kinetic measurements, the use of KEMS for thermodynamics of complex metallic alloy and oxide solutions, and the application of KEMS to complex energy conversion systems.
